- Sledmere and Fimber railway station
Sledmere and Fimber (gbmappingsmall|SE909610) was a railway station on the
Malton & Driffield Railway . It opened on19 May 1853 , and was sited between the villages ofSledmere andFimber . It closed on5 June 1950 . The station was until March1858 named "Fimber", before briefly becoming "Sledmere", until May1859 when it became "Sledmere and Fimber" until final closure of the line. Despite being very remote from both Sledmere and Fimber, the station was the most important on the MDR in terms of traffic and receipts (Burton).References
