- List of planets in The History of the Galaxy
This is a list of planets mentioned in "
The History of the Galaxy " series of novels byRussia nscience-fiction writerAndrey Livadny .Rori
Colonized in
2580 by settlers from Elio, Kjuig, and Dabog. The planet's main export is the Rori "mirror wood".While colonizing Rori, the humans ignored the fact that the "mirror trees" were a product of millions of years of evolution and were crucial to the planet's climate - they reflected the energy of the system's star and redistributed it over large areas, allowing other kinds of flora and fauna to exist. The uncontrolled cutting down of the "mirror trees" resulted in a sharp climate change and some dangerous energy anomalies. As a result, the colonists were forced to relocate to the planet's airless moon and live in protective domes.
Fort Stellar
Rori's moon, settled when the Rori colonists were forced to leave the planet by the rapidly-changing climate. During the First and Second Galactic Wars, Fort Stellar became the headquarters of the Free Colonies' and, later, the
Confederacy of Suns fleet. The moon was also the gathering place for the Worlds Security Council.Cassia
Colonized by the settlers of the "Cassiopeia" in
2230 , Cassia is anEarth -like agrarian planet. It is most known because, during the First Galactic War, the Earth Alliance tested its first combat servo-machines there.Kjuig
The only planet where more than one colonization transport landed during the Great Exodus: "Claimant" and "Vorm" in
2231 and "Rizenberg" in2260 . Kjuig was one of the five developed colonies blacklisted by John Hammer of the Earth Alliance on the eve of the First Galactic War.Elio
The capital of the Confederation of Suns, colonized by those who came on the "Krivich" in
2216 . While its previous biosphere was all but annihilated during the initial stages of the terraforming process, the famous giant trees known as ravories survived. Ravories only grow in shallow gulf waters and glow at night due tomicroorganism colonies living in a symbiotic relationship with the trees. Elio's specialists attempted and succeeded in creating the InterStar network, which joined most colonies into a community, similar to what theInternet did for the late20th century humans. After the attempted invasion of theHarammins and the destruction of the InterStar hub in Elio's orbit, the aliensupercomputer known as theLogris was set up in its place.Eres
A planet-wide
wildlife preserve under the protection of Elio's government. When areconnaissance ship sent from the "Krivich" crash-landed on Eres in 2216, the survivors bred a race of semi-intelligentcat s known as the Eres skarms. The planet was rediscovered by the galactic community in2608 .Dabog
The colonial transport "Fugitive" landed there in
2217 . The First Galactic War began with the Earth Alliance strike fleet attacking Dabog. The Dabogans are remembered for their long and heroic resistance to the invasion forces. Their agrarian walking machines proved so effective against the enemy, that the admiral in charge of the fleet was forced to pull back his remaining ground troops and burn the planet to cinders with orbital nuclear strikes. The concept of walking machines was used by both sides of the wars to develop their own versions of these servo-machines. Due to heavyfallout from the bombardment, the planet remains uninhabitable but stands as a silent monument to the defiance of the Free Colonies and the brutality of the Earth Alliance.Dansia
Located in the Borderworld sector, Dansia was colonized by the people arriving on the "'Danais" during the Great Exodus.
Vorgejz
The colonial transport "'Vorgeyz" landed here in
2234 during the Great Exodus. Vorgejz is the farthest planet from the center of the Confederacy of Suns. As such, it was not rediscovered until3804 by the Cartographic Service cruiser "Orpheus". Due to the planet's remote location, it was the site of the first invasion of the Harammins during the Seven Days War.Harbor
After the Cartographic Service ship "Terra" rediscovered the planet Demeter, the Insects there were moved to Harbor - a planet with a much warmer climate, suitable for the species. However, during the time period between the fall and the restoration of the Confederacy of Suns, the Insects were periodically attacked by Ganio pirates.
Ganio
Habitable world orbiting the star named Calif, colonized in
2280 by the arrivals on the "Miriam". The colonists came mainly from the regions of theMiddle East on Earth. Ganio became the center of organized (and not so organized) crime in all of human space. If any major crime took place somewhere in the Confederacy of Suns, more often than not, Ganio crime clans had something to do with it. The planet is often called the Contention Cradle.Demeter
Colonized by the settlers of the "Bristol" in
2242 , the planet was already colonized by a degraded group of Insects, who have forgotten their glorious past. The first settlers erected a fully-automated ground floor (called the Socle) of a futuremegacity on top of their ship. However, the war between the two societies interrupted the construction process. After several centuries of fighting, the human colonists began to forget many technologies and moved out of the craft. However, the ship's computer system still maintained everything inside and was forced to come up with increasingly creative solutions to critical problems. This led to the system attaining sentience and naming itself Mother. After the rediscovery of the planet, the two enclaves were moved to separate worlds, leaving Demeter to Mother on her quest to create a race of thinking machines. However, this was not meant to be, as the Ganio pirates managed to penetrate the blockade set up by the Confederacy of Suns and took Mother with them.
Allor
Colonized during the Second Exodus by the Confederacy of Suns, the planet became the administrative center for the Borderworld sector.
Hephestus
Planet owned by the Saint-Ivo family and contains the secret headquarters of the
Galactic Cybersystems Corporation .Zoroaster
Dion
Colonized by the Earth Alliance at the start of the First Galactic War, the planet was, later, recolonized and transformed into a famous galactic resort.
Flired
Colonized by refugees fleeing the horrors of the First Galactic War. Their main export is the dew of the diahr tree - a soft narcotic substance widely used in medicine. Flired's eccentric orbit causes large variations in its climate. One local year is equal to six standard (Earth) years.
Beezlebub
A
rogue planet oid which was used as a dump site for nuclear, chemical, and bacterial waste. Beezlebub was warmed by an artificial mini-sun. At some point, there was an attempt to clear the waste and transform the planetoid into a livable area when inmates of the local prison were employed as workers.Omicron-6
Developed world in the Borderworld sector owned by the Echo corporation. The planet is widely known for its mutagenic life forms.
Omicron-12
Originally set up as a military base for the Earth Alliance during the war, the base has since been destroyed by the new settlers.
Paradise
Discovered by the reconnaissance ship "Stardog" in
3725 , Paradise remained uncolonized and hidden from public record due to the presence of unique life forms, which developed after the planet's star exploded.Hermes
The planet was owned by the Rauli family until it was sold to a special Confederacy of Suns taskforce set up to investigate the Logris. Unknown to everyone else, a group of genetically-modified refugees from Zoroaster settled under the plateau which contains the main (and only) base. Afterwards, the planet was once again purchased by the last member of the Rauli family, who formed a new religious order and created the Logris Temple to allow its clients to purchase a "life after death" of sorts.
Erigon
Colonized by the transport "Eregos" in
2257 , the planet is inhospitable most life forms due to its constant subzero temperatures. The first settlers were forced to live in natural ice caves, which were eventually converted into artificial bubble-like settlements connected by tunnels. This resulted in the well-known subglacial cities of Erigon.Other Sites
Cemeteries of Drifting Spaceships
"Cemeteries" found at sites of large-scale battles of the First Galactic War. The spaceship debris tends to collect into sphere-like shapes, some of which contain functioning combat machines still intent on fulfilling their orders. Many of these sites are used by weapon smugglers to hide from the law.
Orion Nebula
The
Orion Nebula contains several small planetoids settled by the settlers of the first extrasolar colony ship "Alpha" thought to have been lost when it was inadvertently pulled into Hypersphere.Sleeve of Emptiness
An enormous area of space without stars extending for about 300
light year s from the Sword of Orion. This area was the site of an ancient catastrophe caused by the arrival of the Forerunners.Dyson Sphere
A massive spatial structure theorized to exist by a 20th-century
physicist Freeman Dyson . Originally constructed 3 million years ago by the Insect race around a star in one of their systems, the matter from the worlds and planetoids of the system was used in the construction. The purpose of the sphere was to provide a safe haven for the Insects and, possibly, their friends theLogrians from the impending Forerunner swarm. Unfortunately, the construction was not successfully completed due to the arrival of the Forerunners, who damaged parts of the structure but, for some reason, did not completely consume it.It was later colonized by refugees during the First Galactic War and rediscovered by the Confederacy of Suns after the tragic Moon-17 incident.
After the defeat of the Harammins, the Sphere was returned to the freed Insects, although the human settlements inside it were allowed to remain, mostly due to the humans spending considerable effort to repair the damage to the Sphere by the Forerunners and time.
