Tim Chadwick (born 1962,
Hawera ,New Zealand ) is a New Zealand artist and author. Hismixed media paintings have been exhibited at theGovett Brewster Gallery ,New Plymouth , theManawatu Art Gallery inPalmerston North , and dealer galleries inAuckland andWellington , as well as at theLincoln Center ,New York and inAustralia and theUnited Kingdom . His paintings are held in theMassey University collection, theJames Wallace collection of New Zealand art and several private collections in San Francisco, Melbourne, London and throughout New Zealand.Chadwick has also had nine books published, including "Tractors in New Zealand" and "Saloon Motorsport in New Zealand". He also writes for
New Zealand Classic Car Magazine , a local New Zealand newspaper and occasionallyNew Zealand Truck and Driver magazine . His artwork often has crossovers with his motoring writing, for example, a major series of work created in the late-1980s and early-1990s was painted on second hand car bonnets (hoods). A recent work featuresAbel Tasman , anAustin Tasman car and the now extinctThylacine (Tasmanian Tiger ).In his formative art years Chadwick was taught by artists
Cliff Whiting ,Paul Dibble and Frank Davis. He now teaches art atInglewood High School inTaranaki . Tim Chadwick has two children,born in 1992 and 1995. In the early 1990s he led a group known as the Scarecrow Committee who unsuccessfully campaigned to preventKFC from bulldozing the Hawera house of New Zealand authorRonald Hugh Morrieson and replacing it with a fast food outlet.
