Branko Milanovic is a Lead economist in the
World Bank 's research department in the unit dealing with poverty and inequality and a senior associate at theCarnegie Endowment for International Peace , inWashington, D.C. .Education
Milanovic received a
MSc fromFlorida State University and aPh.D. ineconomics fromBelgrade University in 1987.Research and Career
Milanovic focuses on the issues of globalization, income distribution, and democracy. Previously, he worked as World Bank country economist for
Poland from 1988 to 1991 and research fellow at the Institute of Economic Sciences inBelgrade ,Yugoslavia from 1980 to 1983 and from 1986 to 1988. Since 1996, he is an adjunct professor of Economics of at the School for Advanced International StudiesJohns Hopkins University .He is an expert in income distribution, economies in transition,
globalization ,development ,international economics , economic/market reform, international financial institutions, post-Soviet economies, international organizations, Balkans, and Eastern Europe.Throughout his career he has done a number of publications, mainly on world
inequality andpoverty .
