The difference of Laboratory School to other schools is that it offers a curriculum oriented inmathematics and the sciences] , in which a student who is qualified and enrolled in this curriculum shall take up advanced units. For example, a Second Year student on a Math-Science curriculum would take up Geometry, which will only be taken by a regular Third Year student.A unit under the College of Education of Tarlac State University, the creation of the school is focused on the development of the Student Teachers of
College of Education . Laboratory School Students are called LSians. The TSU Laboratory School previously had four school days (Tuesday to Friday) by the order given by Tarlac State University. This was reverted in 2007. The reason of reverting the school days could maybe include some students probably from far distances, having difficulty from coming home because of the late dismissal schedules for the students.
Being under Tarlac State University, LSians join different occasions and festivities that are held at TSU. Some of the activities are Intramurals, Buwan ng Wika, Clash of the Titans, and other quiz bees.
The school was forced to close in 2005, citing that the provincial government or the university is not able to support the school. However, this order has been terminated, and LS is still accepting enrollees for every school year.
