Jonathan Joy

Jonathan Joy was a first class cricketer who played for Yorkshire both as a pre-county club and for Yorkshire County Cricket Club in first class cricket after the foundation of the County Championship. He also played first class cricket for the North of England (1854-1864) and Yorkshire with Stockton-on-Tees (1861). Although he only played 11 matches, he appeared in first class cricket from 1849 to 1867.

He scored 283 runs, with a best of 74 against Kent CCC in 1864, at an average of 14.5. He took one wicket with his right arm, round arm, fast bowling against the South of England at a total cost of 56. He took one catch. He also umpired one first class match, Yorkshire and Durham v Nottinghamshire, at Portrack Lane, Stockton-on-Tees in 1858.

He was born on December 29, 1826 in Preston Bottoms, Knaresborough, Yorkshire and died on September 27, 1889 in Middlesbrough
