The LG KE970 [ [http://www.lge.com/products/model/detail/ke970.jhtml LG Electronics Product Details] ] (a.k.a. LG ME970, LG CU720, LG KG70, or LG Shine [ [http://shine.lgmobile.com/ LG Shine Official Website] ] ) is slider-style mobile phone manufactured by LG Electronics, the second installment of LG Black Label Series, followed by LG Secret in 2008. Originally marketed in Asia as the LG Cyon SV420, LG expanded the phone to other markets including the Europe, South America, and parts of North America.

Design

The LG KE970 takes on a slider form; featuring a polished-metal exterior and stainless steel case. The display is a large 2.25-inch (240x320 pixels) screen capable of 256,000 colors, which doubles as a mirror when the screen is not used. Instead of the touch-sensitive controls found on the LG Chocolate, it uses a scroll bar for up and down navigation and two buttons for side-to-side navigation.

North America has 2 modified versions of the Shine available. Both feature a joystick taking the place of scroll wheel. The only difference between the 2 North American models is that the Canadian version, offered by Rogers Wireless features a second VGA camera located on the front of the phone for video calling. The American version, CU720, offered by AT&T does not have this, and must use the primary camera for its video calling service. It has expandable memory (microSD) up to 4GB. Australia has three versions: KE970 and two 3G models (CU720 with a joystick available on the 850 MHz Telstra Next G network with expandable memory up to 4GB, and KU970 that operates on the 2100 MHz 3G network with only 512MB internal memory and no expansion). AT&T now offers the phone in three different colors: the original, red, and black. There are two candy bar version of this phone,KE770 and ME770. The difference between the two is that the ME770 has the 850 MHz (U.S./Canada/Latin America/Brazil) and the KE770 doesn't.

Titanium Black Edition

In July 2007, LG Electronics unveiled the LG Shine "Titanium Black". Offering the same features as the original LG Shine, the full metal bodied jacket has received a makeover, turning it a dark metallic grey. There is also a North American version which features a joystick instead of the scroll bar. It also has many new features, but has been complained on about screen problems and small buttons which make texting harder than it should.

Andy Lau Edition

In August 2007, LG Electronics launched the LG "Shine x Andy Lau Special Edition". Iron Man Edition

In May 2008, an extremely limited Iron Man edition was issued. The 21 made had a red case, gold plated highlights, and an 18k gold battery cover.

Gold Edition

In July 2007, LG Electronics unveiled the LG Shine " Gold ". Offering the same features as the original LG Shine.But in a shiny Gold colour. This version costs a little bit more than the original.
