freeway , currently under construction in the south of the Tel Aviv Metropolitan Area inIsrael . The freeway will connect theAyalon Highway in the west with Highway 1 in the east. The freeway will then continue east intoModi'in as a local road.The freeway will have six lanes (three in each direction) over a total length of 21 km. There will also be a short Collector/Distributor system between Rishon Darom and Nes Ziona Interchanges. 12 interchanges will be built along its length, 5 of them freeway to freeway interchanges. It will also include 54 km of service roads, including exits and entrance ramps.
The design of the freeway includes a right of way for a double track railway in its median.
Highway 431 is the first PFI project in Israel, and the freeway is being built by Danya Cebus, a subsidiary of Africa Israel Investments Ltd. Construction started in 2005 and it is due for completion by mid-2008.
