John Hicks (cricketer)

John Hicks was a first class cricketer who played 15 games for Yorkshire County Cricket Club between 1872 and 1876. He also played first class games for North of England (1872-1875), United North of England Eleven (1872-1874) and Players of the North (1876).

He was born on December 10, 1850 in York and died June 10, 1912 in Holgate in the same Yorkshire city.

A right handed batsman, he played 21 first class matches in all, scoring 423 runs at 13.21 with a best of 66 against Surrey CCC. A right arm fast bowler, he took 3 wickets at 23.33, all his scalps being taken against the United South of England Eleven. He took 13 catches.
