- Ronald Martland
Ronald Martland, CC, AOE, LL.B, BA (1909 —
November 20 ,1997 ) was a Canadian Justice of theSupreme Court of Canada . Born inLiverpool ,England , he was the second Albertan ever to be appointed to the Supreme Court of Canada. Justice Martland attended theUniversity of Alberta and obtained a B.A. in 1926 and an LL.B in 1928. He was awardedRhodes Scholarship and studied atOxford University , where he played for theOxford University Ice Hockey Club . Ronald Martland was called to the bar of Alberta in 1932. He served on the supreme court asPuisne Justice for 24 years prior to his retirement in February 1982 at the mandatory age of 75.Honours
