YU Rock Misija (meaning, in the Slovenian,
Bosnian ,Serbo-Croatian andMacedonian language s, Yugoslav Rock Mission) was the contribution of the formerSocialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia to the famousBob Geldof 's Band Aid famine relief campaign which culminated with the historicalLive Aid concert on July 13,1985 .Beside the British "
Do They Know It's Christmas? " and the correspondingUSA for Africa projects, many other countries also joined Geldof's campaign, including:Canada ,West Germany ,Austria ,Norway and many others.SFR Yugoslavia was not an exception. The elite of the
Popular music in the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia gathered and formed a Yugoslav Band Aid group called "YU Rock Misija". The group recorded a charity song which was released as single and also filmed a corresponding video. The group included following musicians:

Prominent artists who openly refused to take part in the Yugoslav Band Aid wereBora Đorđević , the leader of thecult band Riblja Čorba andGoran Bregović , the leader ofBijelo Dugme .At the end of the campaign, the Yugoslav musicians played a big 8 hour stadium concert on June 15, 1985 in Belgrade. The video for "Za Milion godina" was played on many TV stations worldwide and also, on July 13 1985 at the
Wembley Stadium on the large video screens during avideo interlude . It is included, though not completely, in the "Overseas contributors" section in the official Live Aid DVD which was released in 2004 byWarner Music Group .References
