Compeat Restaurant Management Systems is a privately-held software company specializing in back office software for the restaurant industry. Their major product, Compeat Back Office, is an integrated inventory and accounting back office system that includes standard back office inventory features (similar to that of QuickBooks), and restaurant-specific features for inventory management.

History

Compeat was based in New Orleans from its inception until 2005.

In August 2005 the company evacuated from the path of Hurricane Katrina, a day before the storm devastated their New Orleans offices. Office equipment and personnel were temporarily housed by one of their customers, Dave & Busters, in Dallas Texas. Like many New Orleans businesses, Compeat chose not to return to the city due to changes in the labor pool and the infrastructure problems left by the storm (See Effect of Hurricane Katrina on New Orleans). In February 2006, Compeat moved their permanent offices to Austin, TX. [Citation
