The Leon M. Goldstein High School for the Sciences Brooklyn (LMGHS), formerly "Kingsborough High School for the Sciences" [http://www.cae-nyc.org/downloads/ppbook/ppb14.pdf] , is a four year secondary school high school, located in Manhattan Beach, Brooklyn, New York. The school is a part of the New York City Department of Education.
Every year 200 students enroll. LMGHS was rated one of the best schools in New York City by New York magazine.
The school was built in the northern part of the campus of Kingsborough Community College and opened in 1993 by former Mayor of New York City Rudy Giuliani and Leon M. Goldstein, the President of Kingsborough Community College for nearly 30 years. The high school overlooks Sheepshead Bay and is housed in a new building with state of the art facilities. The school's colors are purple and white. Goldstein's mascot is the Dolphin.
LMG has a newspaper called "The Current" and has many clubs that range from Debate to Sci-Fi to Photography. Clubs start right after school every Wednesday. Club run from 12:44 PM to 1:34PM
The school offers special programs such as Robotics, AP Courses, AB & BC Calculus, Chorus, Jazz Band, Orchestra, Painting, Dance, Sculpture, Advanced Art, Advanced Photography, and Virtual Enterprise.
