He was succeeded in this post by Vice-AdmiralAlan Massey in a ceremony aboard HMS "Victory" on15 July 2008 . Massey was CO of HMS "Ark Royal" duringOperation Telic in 2003.Educated at a
grammar school inCornwall and thenImperial College London he joined theRoyal Navy in 1973. He was promotedlieutenant on1 September 1975 (with seniority from1 January 1975 ).
