Richard Martin (born April 12, 1956), is an award-winning Canadian television director, film director and film editor. He was born in Vancouver and is the son of comedian Dick Martin ("Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In"). He and his wife, Kim Steer, have one child named Cole.
Career
Martin first achieved significant notice in the film industry as an editor, having been nominated in 1986 for a Genie Award for "Best Achievement in Film Editing" for the independent film biography "Samuel Lount" (1985). Within a few years, he moved to directing, beginning with the 1990 Canadian murder mystery "Matinee", for which he also received a scriptwriting credit. His directing career since has primarily involved him in television. Among others, he's directed episodes of "", "Hollywood Off-Ramp", "The Sausage Factory", "Mysterious Ways" and "Young Blades". His direction of the "Hollywood Off-Ramp" episode "Death by Gossip" won him a 2001 Leo Award for "Best Director of a Music, Comedy or Variety Program or Series."
He has also directed several films, including 1998's "", in which film his father made a brief appearance. [Addiego, Walter.
