On 25 August, 2003, twin car bombings struck the Indian city of Mumbai killing at least 52 people, and injuring nearly 150. Both of those two bombs were planted in taxis during lunch period. One of the bomb exploded at the Gateway of India, which is a major tourist attraction. It was planted near the Taj Mahal hotel, shattering its windows in due course. The other bomb went off in a jewellery market near the Mumba Devi temple in central Mumbai. No group claimed responsibility for the attack, but it is believed that the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Toiba was behind the carnage.
