Frank Dennis

Frank Dennis was a first class cricketer who played in 89 matches for Yorkshire County Cricket Club from 1928 to 1933 and 3 for the Minor Counties from 1936 to 1939. He was awarded his coveted Yorkshire cap in 1929.

A right arm fast bowler, he took 163 wickets at 29.26 with a best of 6 for 42 against Northamptonshire CCC, one of 5 'five fors' in his career. A left handed batsman, he scored 1500 runs at 19.73 with a best of 95 against the West Indies tourists. He also took 59 catches.

He is part of a cricketing dynasty. His brother in law was the great Len Hutton, of his nephews, Richard Hutton played for Yorkshire and England, Simon Dennis played for Yorkshire and Glamorgan and John Hutton played a game for M.C.C.

Born on June 11, 1907 in Holbeck, Leeds he died on November 21, 2000 in Christchurch, Canterbury, New Zealand at the ripe old age of 93.
