Syrian parliamentary election, 1954

Democratic multiparty parliamentary elections were held in Syria in November 1954, after 5 years of military coups and dictatorial regimes. Among the 142 elected MPs were 30 from the People's Party, 22 from the Baath Party, 19 from the National Party, 2 form the Syrian Social Nationalist Party, 2 from the Cooperative Socialist Party (islamist), 2 from the Arab Liberation Movement, 1 (Khalid Bakdash) from the Syrian Communist Party, plus 64 independents.
