Nissi

According to the Book of Exodus, Jehovah Nissi is the name of the memorial altar erected by Moses after the nation of Israel won the battle against the Amalekites at Rephidim in .

In modern Biblical translations, such as the New International Version, the name is translated “the smallcaps|Lord is my banner." The Septuagint translators believed "nis·si′" to be derived from "nus" (flee for refuge) and rendered it "Jehovah Is My Refuge", while in the Vulgate it was thought to be derived from "na·sas′" (hoist; lift up) and was rendered "Jehovah Is My Exaltation".
