- SS Arundel Castle
The SS "Arundel Castle" was an
ocean liner in service for theUnion-Castle Line . Her sister ship was the SS "Windsor Castle". Together, the pair comprised the only four-funneled liners not built for transatlantic service. She entered service in 1921. She received a refit in 1937, with her four funnels being reduced to two, lengthened, and more modern bow. She served in World War II as a transport in the Mediterranean. The "Arundel Castle' was withdrawn from service in 1958 and taken to the ship breakers inHong Kong . She should be the last of the four funnel liners in service, but her funnels were reduced to two, so the Cunard's "Aquitania" was the last liner with four funnels in service.References
