Born in Sliven Vandev started to play football in local club OFC Sliven 2000. He made your debut for the first team in 2001, when OFC Sliven is a in bulgarian amateur division. Because of his good displays Vandev caught eye of Lokomotiv Plovdiv scouts and he signed for "Loko" in early 2003. The forward made his official debut in bulgarian first division on 13 march 2004 in a match against Chernomorets Burgas as a 62th minute substitute. In a same year Vandev joint champion of Bulgaria with Lokomotiv. He played for the team from Plovdiv five seasons.
