Yavuz Çetin (1970 -
August 15 ,2001 ) was a Turkishmusician . He was born inSamsun ,Turkey . His father, Erdal Çetin, was a journalist, Yavuz spent his childhood in many different places in Turkey.At the age of 14, he began to take blues and rock
guitar lessons fromHasan Cihat Örter . In 1985, he began to play acoustic guitar and later took up theelectric guitar . He graduated from the Haydarpaşa High School inIstanbul . With his high school classmateErcan Saatçi , now a famous musician and a sports journalist, wrote the tune "I Will Cry" and won the music competition of the HEY magazine. He was later admitted to the faculty of music at theMarmara University inIstanbul .Between 1980s and 1990s, Çetin played at the Beyaz Ev (White House) in
Bodrum .In 1991, he formed a band named "Blue Blues Band", together withBatu Mutlugil ,Kerim Çaplı andSunay Özgür . From 1996 to his death he played guitar with the famous bandMazhar-Fuat-Özkan at many concerts.He collaborated in various albums with artists such as
Teoman ,Kıraç ,Sibel Tüzün ,Soner Arıca ,Göksel ,Deniz Arcak andAcil Servis . In Göksel's hit song "Sabır", he was the first Turkish guitar player to use aTalk box . His solo in Deniz Arcak's "Bırakın Beni" from the Kıpır Kıpır album is the last studio session he recorded in. His mastery to rock and blues guitar tradition is quite obvious in his solo on this song. The solos of this was recorded with a couple of rehearsals and on the first take.He worked on many advertisements, including Coca-Cola's spot, and his tune "Dünya"(the World) has been chosen as part of
Erkan Oğur 's "Propaganda" movie soundtrack.In 1997, with the production of Ercan Saatçi, published his first album "İlk..."(First...) but the album couldn't achieve a good success.
Due to deep depression and difficulties to stand the frenetic city life, on
August 15 ,2001 , he committed suicide by jumping from theBosphorus Bridge . After his death the album "Satılık" (For Sale) was published using the recording which Yavuz completed in the last days of his life.Discography
