Princess Maria Louise of Neo France is a character in the fictional anime Mobile Fighter G Gundam and an unofficial member of George de Sand's crew. Her Japanese seiyuu is Yumi Touma. Her English Voice Actress is Chris Simms (aka Kris Simms).

Personality

Maria Louise is the only daughter of the King of Neo-France, head of the Neo-France Government. Cute, demure and polite, she's nonetheless much tougher than she looks like; she's notably headstrong, outspoken, sneaky, quick-witted and pretty much a tomboy at heart. Raymond, George's caretaker, often remarks on untypical her behavior is for her high status.

Maria is smitten with the hero of the colony, handsome and gentle George de Sand, who treats her at first as his lady-in-liege and close friend and is more or less oblivious to her crush on him; their relationship is somewhat debated in the fandom, since it has elements of both courtly love and romance.

Role in the story

Maria appears first in her home nation of Neo France as a witness to George's fight against the Arachno Gundam from Neo Cuba, which was interrupted by Domon Kasshu. Later, miffed after George completely ignores her in a party, Maria decides to fake her kidnapping and escapes from the Neo France manor, leaving a fake note. Dressed up in normal clothes, she contacts Domon and offers him to participate in her scheme, promising that George will come for her and accept his challenge.

Domon goes along with Maria's plan despite Rain's protests, and ties up Maria to a tree before fighting George, who comes to Maria's rescue despite knowing that the kidnapping is fake. She's delighted to have George fighting for her for once, but Rain tells her that this is not true, and George admits that much as he wishes to protect Maria, his main priority in that moment is Domon. Maria is released and taken away by Rain, just in time before the Eiffel Tower collapses; later, she apologizes to George for being selfish and returns to the colony.

Maria returns to the scene during the finals of the Gundam Fights, when she and her father arrive to Neo Hong Kong. She and George discover the scheme behind the reapparition of Gentle Chapman after she's a witness of one murder perpetrated by Chapman; in the Gundam Fight that came later, George had to fight hard to keep Maria and the King's boat safe after the protecting barriers are disabled. She also tried to mediate between her father and George when the former refuses to let the latter properly fight Domon in an official battle, trying to keep the Rose Gundam safe but deeply hurting George's pride as a fighter.

In Lantau Island, Maria Louise proves herself as a valious crewmember after she offers to destroy a cornerpost that was the source of an energy barrier that isolated Lantau Island from the rest of Neo Hong Kong. Despite the risk this means, Maria actually succeeds and uses a bomb to blow up the post, allowing the others to aid Domon and the Shuffle Alliance.

After the final fight, Maria is last seen hugging and kissing George on the cheek, much to his surprise.
