Elsa was a privately-owned mining town (now closed) based on
silver ,lead , andzinc inYukon ,Canada . It is located at coord|63|54|42|N|135|29|27|W|region:CA-YT_type:city|display=inline,title, between the valley of the Stewart River to the south and the Mackenzie Mountains to the north. It is convert|700|km|mi|0|lk=on to the north of Whitehorse, and convert|600|km|mi|0|abbr=on east of theAlaska n border. It is located at Mile 60.3 of theSilver Trail , Yukon Highway 11.In the 1950's, Elsa was the 2nd largest producer of silver in Canada and the 4th largest in the world. Its population moved out following the closure of the United Keno Hill mine in
1989 . Most of the houses and buildings have been dismantled. No one remains except for some caretakers.External links
