Jimmy Recca

Jimmy Recca (born 1949) was a bass player in the Stooges incarnation that existed from early 1971- up until their first break-up on July 9th, 1971.

This under-documented line-up was potentially their most powerful- featuring Jimmy on bass supporting both Ron Asheton and James Williamson, on twin lead guitars.

After a brief period of alowing non-musician "roadies" to fill the vacant bass player slot, James Williamson brought in Jimmy Recca, who became the first credible replacement for Dave Alexander, the original Stooges bass player, who played on the first two albums.

Jimmy was also a member of The New Order- the Los Angeles based "Detroit super-group" that former Stooges guitarist Ron Asheton founded in early 1975, after the implosion of Iggy & The Stooges. The band also featured ex- MC5 drummer, Dennis "Machine Gun" Thompson, former Iggy & The Stooges keyboardist, Scott Thurston and various other Detroit veterans.

Jimmy Recca has also been listed as "Jimi Recca" on some releases.During his time in The Stooges, there were THREE guys named "Jim" in the band: James Osterberg (Iggy), James Williamson, and Jimmy Recca.
