Han In Sang

Han In Sang

Han In Sang (born December 10, 1939) was a general authority of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) between 1991 and 1996. Han was the first Korean Latter-day Saint to become a general authority of the LDS Church.

Han was born in Seoul. In 1957, Han was baptized a member of the LDS Church. He was ordained an elder in the church by Gordon B. Hinckley, who was then an Assistant to the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. Han was the first native Korean to serve as a Mormon missionary in Korea. Later, he was the first Regional Representative for the Twelve Apostles in Korea and the first native Korean mission president to oversee a church mission in Korea. Han also translated the "Book of Mormon" into Korean.

In 1991, Han was asked by the First Presidency to become a member of the Second Quorum of the Seventy and a full-time general authority of the church. Han served in this capacity for five years; in October 1996 the church honorably released him as a general authority. He then became president of the Seoul Korea Temple.

Han is married to Lee Kyn In; they are the parents of three daughters and two sons.
