Han In Sang (born
December 10 ,1939 ) was ageneral authority ofThe Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) between 1991 and 1996. Han was the first KoreanLatter-day Saint to become a general authority of the LDS Church.Han was born in
Seoul . In 1957, Han was baptized a member of the LDS Church. He was ordained an elder in the church byGordon B. Hinckley , who was then anAssistant to the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles . Han was the first native Korean to serve as aMormon missionary inKorea . Later, he was the firstRegional Representative for the Twelve Apostles in Korea and the first native Koreanmission president to oversee a church mission in Korea. Han also translated the "Book of Mormon " into Korean.In 1991, Han was asked by the First Presidency to become a member of the
Second Quorum of the Seventy and a full-time general authority of the church. Han served in this capacity for five years; in October 1996 the church honorably released him as a general authority. He then became president of theSeoul Korea Temple .Han is married to Lee Kyn In; they are the parents of three daughters and two sons.
