Zuschendorf is a village that has been part of
Pirna since1922 . It lies in the Seidewitz valley in theSächsische Schweiz district of theFree State of Saxony ,Germany .The village was first mentioned in
1378 . In1553 , a castle was built there, where thevon Carlowitz andvon Bünau families lived for many years. The baroque-style church was built in1560 and has been a part of the castle since theThirty Years' War . During the communist years of East Germany, a notorious antique dealer occupied the castle. After the fall of theBerlin Wall , the rundown castle that should have been torn down was luckily spared. The premisis has been cleaned and now has an outstanding garden ofhortensia ,bonsai ,ivy andcamellia .The Castle's opening times are from Tue-Fri: 10am-6pm, and on weekends and holidays 10AM-5PM (CET) (closed on Mondays). It's located 5 km from Pirna on a road to
Liebstadt .
