Thierry Claveyrolat (March 31 1959 – September 7 1999) was a French road bicycle racer, professional between the years 1983 and 1994. Born in La Tronche, in the region of Rhône-Alpes, he was notable for being the King of the Mountains in the 1990 Tour de France, in which he also won a stage, as well in the 1991 Tour de France. Claveyrolat's best finish in the Tour de France was in 1986, when was 17th.

Claveyrolat committed suicide at home in Notre-Dame-de-Mésage (Isère) on September 7, 1999. He had been responsible for a traffic accident which left four people seriously injured on August 13 that year, and spiraled into a depression from which he did not recover. Claveyrolat's death was not the first by a Tour de France climber, nor the last. 1905 Tour de France winner René Pottier hanged himself in 1907. 1998 Tour de France winner Marco Pantani died of a cocaine overdose in 2004, and Spanish climber José Maria Jimenez died of a heart attack in 2002 at 32 after suffering depression for two years.
