Radnička Kontrola (meaning in serbian language: Workers' control) was a Punk Rock and New Wave band from the former SFR Yugoslavia in the late 1970s and early 1980s notable for its vocalist Zoran Kostić Cane who later rose to nationwide and international popularity as a frontman of the eminent ex-Yugoslav and Serbian rock band Partibrejkers from Belgrade. Another member of the group was Srđan Todorović, who later became a drummer for the cult band Ekatarina Velika and played for Disciplina kičme as well. He achieved international success as a movie actor in films such as Emir Kusturica's award winning "Black Cat, White Cat". Radnička Kontrola was included in the compilation album "Artistička radna akcija" released by Jugoton in 1981 which has a cult status in the former Yugoslav countries.

History

Formation and breakup

The band was formed in 1979 featuring Zoran Kostić Cane (vocals) who previously worked with Kopilad and Urbana Gerila, Srdan Đile Marković (bass), Darko Milojković (guitar) and Srđan Todorović Žika (drums).

The band recorded only two tracks, "Dosada" ("Boredom") and "TV u koloru" ("Colour TV"), both of which appeared on the various artist compilation "Artistička radna akcija" which is one of the most influential and appreciated cult Yugoslav rock releases. The recordings featured guest appearances by Petar & Zli Vuci guitarist Ljuba Sedlar who played drumms and drummer Relja Obrenović also from Petar & Zli Vuci.

Radnička Kontrola appeared on a two days new wave festival held at Belgrade's Tašmajdan on September, 1981, when Cane managed to provoke the audience and police and the show was stopped. Later Cane's behaviour was discussed in the newspappers. The band's last live appearance was in October, 1981 in Ljubljana as a support act for Šarlo Akrobata. This was also Šarlo Akrobata last concert.

Post breakup

After the band disbanded, Cane formed his own band Partibrejkers. The band became one of the most popular Yugoslav bands. He also participated the Rimtutituki anti war project in 1992. He also participated the "Pesme iznad istoka i zapada" various artists project and "Kao da je bilo nekad", Milan Mladenović tribute album.

Srđan Todorović Žika moved to Bezobrazno Zeleno with whom he recorded their first studio album and moved to Disciplina Kičme (1984-1987) and later to Ekatarina Velika (1987-1990) and Kazna Za Uši on their 1994 album "Izliv radosti napad srece". Beside music he also worked as an actor and later completely devoted to it. He is one of the most successful Serbian actors.

Srđan Marković Đile started working as a journalist and a visual artist mainly inspired by sixties underground comic books. He also worked with Disciplina Kičme and in 1992 formed an electro post-punk duo Supernaut.

Darko Milojković worked with Disciplina Kičme, his later career is unknown.
