Roustam Raza, also known as Roustan or Rustam ( _hy. Ռուստամ Ռազա), was Napoleon Bonaparte's famous
mamluk bodyguard . Roustan was an Armenian fromTbilisi , Georgia. In his memoirs Roustam wrote that he was born in Tiflis (an old name ofTbilisi ) and his father Rustam Unan ( _hy. Cairo . One of the local authorities presented a young slave to General Napoleon Bonaparte in 1798. Roustan served as a bodyguard of Napoleon until 1814, when the Roustan married Mademoiselle Douville inDourdan ,France and refused to follow theEmperor in his exile toElba .References
