Khong Chai ( _th. ฆ้องชัย) is a district ("Amphoe") in the southern part of Kalasin Province, northeastern Thailand.

Geography

Neighboring districts are (from the north clockwise) Yang Talat, Mueang Kalasin, Kamalasai of Kalasin Province, Changhan of Roi Et Province, Mueang Maha Sarakham and Kantharawichai of Maha Sarakham Province.

History

Following a decision of the Thai government on May 15 2007, all of the 81 minor districts were to be upgraded to full districts [cite news|url=http://www.manager.co.th/Politics/ViewNews.aspx?NewsID=9500000055625|publisher=Manager Online|title=แถลงผลการประชุม ครม. ประจำวันที่ 15 พ.ค. 2550|language=Thai] . Administration

The district is subdivided into 5 subdistricts ("tambon"), which are further subdivided into 48 villages ("muban"). There are no municipal ("thesaban") areas, and 5 Tambon administrative organizations (TAO).
