Sheet metal shears

Sheet metal shears

Used extensively in the building industry by metal wall and roof sheeters (roofing plumbers) and air conditioning duct makers and fixers.

Usage

They cut fast mainly straight cuts in material up to 20 gauge mild steel, 24 gauge stainless steel and 1/16" aluminum.Apart from speed of cut, they are a lot neater than other power tools that do a similar job. The shears will and do cut curves but not less than 30mm outside radius. The tool for cutting tighter curves is a nibbler. They also handle cutting across profiled sheets, similar the the corrugated sheet in the top photo.
