Quran Pender (born February 22, 1971, Jamaica, Queens, New York) (a.k.a. Storm P.) is an African American actor and rapper, best known for his role as Todd Anderson in the 2004 movie, The Cookout.

Biography

Quran "Storm P" Pender is the epitome of mind, muscle and hustleFact|date=November 2007. Growing up in South Jamaica Queens’ Baisley Project Houses, while under the reign of the notorious "Supreme Team" drug cartel, a young Storm witnessed first hand the type of totalitarian street government that other rappers fictionalize in rhymes. Life stories are what appeal to this fickle music audience, and who better to recount their stories, than this Cornell University graduate from Southside Jamaica Queens? Storm's lyrical prowess gained significant local notoriety and on May 23, 2000 it became known to the rest of the world, when he teamed up with Queens legends 50 Cent and Tony Yayo. The trio recorded the controversial "F- Where You From." The very next day 50 Cent was gunned down in front of his Jamaica Queens home. As a result, speculations began to surface as to the cause of the shooting as well as Storm P's alliance with 50 Cent. In 2001, Storm landed his first major label recording deal with Flava Unit at the helm of the legendary Queen Latifah. It was at this time that Storm joined forces with the group "The Unit." Their first and only album "100% Haterproof" was released in 2002, although album sales certainly did not give an accurate depiction of the impact that Storm had on fans and audiences across the country.

In 2003, while Storm P was still signed to the label, he penned "He Had it Coming," performed by Queen Latifah, Lil Kim and Macy Gray, for the 2004 Grammy award winning "Chicago" soundtrack. Utilizing his gift as a writer, Storm also scored two songs "Do Your Thing" (Queen Latifah and Mario Winans) and "Better Than the Rest" (Queen Latifah) on the 2003 Touchstone Motion picture "Bringing Down the House" starring Queen Latifah.

Acting debut

Latifah along with her business partner and accredited executive producer Shakim Compere (Beauty Shop, HBO's Life Support), took notice of Storm's star potential and cast him the leading role of the 2004 Lionsgate Motion picture "The Cookout." With a star studded cast, which included Queen Latifah, Danny Glover, Megan Good, Ja Rule and Eve the film was a hit with audiences alike.

Television appearances

Since that time, Storm P has appeared on a host of television shows, including Good Morning America, The Wayne Brady Show, Soul Train, BET's 106 & Park, BET's Rap City and BET's The Center. Storm was also honored with the privilege of guest hosting the Dave Chapelle Show as well as throwing the first pitch at a major league baseball game.

Present

Currently, Storm is a staple in the New York mixtape scene and is shopping for a home at a new label. He recently collaborated with Remy Ma for the second single off her controversial "Shesus Khryst" mixtape DVD, called "Pick the Money Up," an infectious club anthem that’s making an impact in markets all across the country. When Storm isn’t busy penning lyrics for various artists, he is making the finishes touches on his upcoming DVD project "Mind, Muscle and Hustle."
