Peruvian Linux User Group

The Peruvian Linux User Group (PLUG), or Grupo de Usuarios de Linux del Perú in Spanish, is a group of Linux users and enthusiasts in Peru. The group was started around 1997 but its roots can be traced even a few years back. It was founded by "Johnny Ramos" and "Sandro Jurado", both IT professionals working for local ISPs at the time.

From the very beginnings the group had members from all around Peru--hence the name. For all of its existence the most of the group's activity is organized around its [http://www.linux.org.pe/mailman/listinfo/linux-plug linux-plug] mailing list, one of the biggest and oldest Linux mailing list in Latin America. The group is well-known in Peruvian Linux circles and contributes speakers to most of the conferences and Linux/Free Software events throughout Peru.
