Robert Kenworthy Platt, known as Bob, is a first class
cricketer who played 96 matches forYorkshire County Cricket Club between 1955 and 1963 and 3 forNorthamptonshire County Cricket Club in 1964. He also played 2 first class matches for theCombined Services in 1956. He had the misfortune to play in strong era for English seam bowling and his prolific wicket taking would surely have won him test recognition in another era.Forming a formidable opening combination with
Fred Trueman , Platt, a right arm medium bowler, took 301 wickets at a miserly 22.58 with a best of 7 for 40 againstGloucestershire . He also took 7 for 70 against Surrey and 6 for 33 againstMiddlesex . A right handed tail end batsman, he scored 424 runs at 7.31 with his solitary fifty, a remarkable knock of 57*, coming againstDerbyshire .He was born on December 26, 1932,

He also appeared for Yorkshire Second XI between 1955 and 1971,The Royal Air Force in 1956, Northamptonshire Second XI in 1964 and 1965 and theInternational Cavaliers and a Roses XI in 1966.After retiring he served on the Yorkshire Committee, and was proud to serve as President.
