Harristown State High School is a public High School located in Toowoomba, Queensland. It was officially opened in 1955 with the school's first and most frequently used motto "if you can dream it you can do it", a quote from Walt Disney, whom opened Disneyland in the same year. The school's second, official motto is "Recte Crescam", Latin for I shall grow straight. In 2001 Harristown affirmed accreditation with the Council of International Schools, the most rigorous standard of school accreditation in the world.

Sport

Harristown is well known in all sporting arenas. Harristown has also been the Queensland Champion of 8 different sports over the last 7 years. The schools sports program is supported by numerous world class sporting facilities, including four fully equipped gymnasiums, tennis courts, heated pool, cricket nets and two expansive outdoor ovals, one of which with an A-grade cricket pitch.

The Arts

Harristown's Arts students are also highly recognised within their respective community. The schools Stage band has been Toowoomba Eisteddfod Champions seven times in the last eight years while also making it to the finals of the Queensland Fanfare competition and achieving second in the Queensland Festival of music. The School's Symphonic Wind Ensemble also holds a high reputation, and last year beat the Stage Band to become Fanfare finalists. Both ensembles are seen regularly throughout Toowoomba performing at events such as the Toowoomba Show and the TYME festival.

Harristown participates in the Rock Eisteddfod Challenge every second year and has won the Queensland Grand Final Open Division every year for the last three years in which it has participated for "Pirates Ahoy", "Laughter is the Best Medicine" and "Wanted: Robin Hood" in 2003, 2005 & 2007 respectively.
