Silverstone Circuit ,Silverstone . It was the 8th race of the1995 Formula One season .Damon Hill andMichael Schumacher were involved in a controversial collision on lap 45. Hill had opted for a two stop strategy, while Schumacher went for a one stop race. Hill left the pits on new tyres on lap 40, and had closed to within a second of Schumacher by lap 45. As the two entered Bridge corner, Hill was a fair distance back and as Schumacher slowed for the left-hander at Priory, Hill went for an ambitious overtaking manoeuvre up the inside. Schumacher closed the door and Hill crashed into him, taking both out of the race.David Coulthard was attackingJohnny Herbert and had a quicker car, but was given a ten second stop-go penalty for speeding in the pits. Herbert took the victory, the first of his career.Rubens Barrichello andMark Blundell were battling for 4th place until the last lap, The Jordan driver tried to pass the McLaren but hit the car's back wheel, sending him into the gravel trap. Barrichello accused Blundell of braking deliberately to cause this. Blundell continued running on 3 wheels (due to a bad puncture from the collision). His car just made it to the end but he had been passed by Olivier Panis for 4th. This was the second successive year that Barrichello had a final-lap collision with a McLaren at Silverstone, after an incident withMika Häkkinen in 1994Gerhard Berger had his second disastrous pitstop in as many races. The Austrian left the pits before his mechanic could properly fit the left front tyre, although the mechanic in question had signalled he had done so whilst still trying to attach the wheel. The loose wheel caused a spin and retirement.Classification
