1992 Japanese Grand Prix

The 1992 Japanese Grand Prix was a Formula One motor race held at Suzuka on October 25, 1992. It was the fifteenth race of the 1992 Formula One season.

*Pole position: Nigel Mansell - 1:37.360
*Fastest lap: Nigel Mansell - 1:40.646 on lap 44
*Last win: Riccardo Patrese
*Ivan Capelli was sacked from Ferrari after the Portuguese Grand Prix and replaced by Nicola Larini. Larini started last having stalled on the grid.
*Karl Wendlinger was also dropped by March and replaced by Jan Lammers for this race and the next race.
*Ayrton Senna had a very early retirement on lap 2 due to an engine failure.
*Nigel Mansell conceded the lead to Riccardo Patrese on lap 37. He was on course to finish 2nd, but his engine blew up on lap 44 and caused him to retire.
*This was Michael Schumacher's only mechanical failure of the season.
