Francesco Francanzano

Francesco Francanzano (1612–1657) was an Italian painter of the Baroque period, active mainly in Naples. He was the pupil of the painter Jusepe Ribera. One of his pupils was Salvator Rosa, who became his brother-in-law. He participated in the Masaniello rebellion, and was pardoned. By report, after inciting further rebellion during the plague of 1656, he was arrested and executed. He painted a Death of St. Joseph in the church of the Pelegrini.
