Founded in 1984, the Mountbatten Internship Programme is dedicated to the promotion of educational and business links between the USA and the UK. The Programme is named in honour of the late Earl Mountbatten of Burma, a noted supporter of international education and training. His daughter, Lady Patricia, the Countess Mountbatten of Burma, is its patron.The mission of the Mountbatten Internship Programme is to foster international and cross cultural understanding through experiential education, practical training and residence abroad, and to provide opportunities for personal growth and professional development.
Both programmes: one in New York City and one in London - last a full 12 months, although the possibility of obtaining an MBA adds on an extra 4 months.
Intern Accommodation
The majority of interns reside in shared apartments in the Newport region of Jersey City, New Jersey.
In September 2010 Mountbatten introduced Manhattan accommodation to MBA students and to people working in Stamford. The new accommodation is located in Harlem, 101st and 1st Ave, and in the Upper West Side. In March 2011, Mountbatten expanded its presence in Harlem acquiring 2 more apartments on 100th street and 1st Avenue.
