History

Cape Harmony began in the spring of 2006 with University of Connecticut senior Melissa Paul and Boston University sophomore Alyssa Norton. Melissa had the original idea and was presented in March, a website went up in April, and the first-ever Cape Harmony auditions were held at Boston University on April 29 2006. Melissa and Alyssa welcomed the founding members Molly McKenna, Amanda Mulhall, Sarah Rogers, Jenn Sheehan, Jocelyn Vierra, Drew Sambol, and Shannon Rice to the group.

The first season consisted of singing all over Cape Cod and the surrounding areas, most notably with their Saturday concert tour which visited halls and churches from Buzzard's Bay to Eastham. The group finished with a concert in August 2006 which was recorded and became their first live album.

For the second season in 2007, Cape Harmony brought newcomers Juliane Codd, Katie Hogan, Rachel Seiler, and Laurel Stewart on board. The group introduced a week-to-week concert series on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, with locations in West Yarmouth, Mashpee, and Hyannis. They continued to visit a different town each week with their Friday Concert Tour, which spanned towns from Buzzard's Bay to Chatham. The group's final concert of 2007 will be released as their second live album at the beginning of the 2008 season.

Current plans

Cape Harmony has welcomed six newcomers for the 2008 season: Amanda Averack, Jenny Bunce, Rebecca Ernst, Polly Flinch, Jane Labriola, and Colleen Petrou. Their weekly concerts this summer will remain on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, and will include locations in West Yarmouth, Mashpee, and Chatham. The group will continue its Friday Tour to various Cape locations as well as its participation in private parties and special concerts and events.
