The CD comes in a
digipak with a 16-page booklet of liner notes and three "photo card inserts,"cite web|url=http://www.thrilljockey.com/catalog/index.html?id=100690|title="Everybody"|publisher=Thrill Jockey |accessdate=2007-05-26] which contain photos of what looks to be Chicago; this is also available as a digital booklet oniTunes if the entire album is purchased. The liner notes are a reproduction of what is presumably lead singer Sam Prekop's notebook. The pages contain sloppy diagrams of chord progressions, scribbled lyrics, and abstract sketches. Archer Prewitt, Sam Prekop, and Sheila Sachs created the artwork. [ [http://www.discogs.com/release/983618 "Everybody"] .Discogs . Accessed onJuly 8 ,2007 .]Musical style
The band's music is described as "low-key indie pop sprinkled with jazz, African, and Brazilian influences." [cite journal|journal= [http://www.theweekmagazine.com The Week Magazine] |title="Everybody"|accessdate=2007-05-26|unused_data=|http://www.theweekmagazine.com/reviews/articles/info.aspx?EntId=1427] On this album specifically, their style is described as cquote|"hot-buttered pop music that sounds delicately handcrafted, yet effortless all the same. Sheets of glowing guitar tones skip along propulsive percussion underscored by gently introspective bass lines, all adorned by breathlessly delivered lines of lyrical poetry."
Pitchfork Media reviewer Jason Crock writes that the album has a pleasant sound, but that "adjectives like 'pleasant' wind up sounding backhanded or inadequate; maybe 'playful' is a better word for Everybody."
