- Riverview Corridor
The Riverview Corridor was a proposed
Bus Rapid Transit line connecting downtown Saint Paul,Minnesota and theMall of America in Bloomington. The line would have served an area from Saint Paul's Union Station to the Mall via parts of the Central Corridor and theHiawatha Line , and a proposed route running parallel to West 7th Street, which runs southwest from downtown St. Paul. The goal of the corridor was to create a triangle connecting opposite ends of the Hiawatha Line and Central Corridor. This project would not be a
Light rail transit way, but rather a bus way. Extensive study of the corridor [Major Investment Study, 2000] found that limited right-of-way, local opposition, low ridership projections, and high costs limited the potential within the corridor. An Environmental Impact Statement [ [http://www.epa.gov/fedrgstr/EPA-IMPACT/2001/July/Day-12/i17483.htm Environmental Impact Statement or Possible Environmental Assessment on the Riverview Corridor Transit Project Located in the Cities of St. Paul and Bloomington, MN | Federal R... ] ] was started on the project in 2002 but never completed. This project has been canceled due to a lack of funding from the legislature. In place of this development, Bus Route 54 was improved in 2004.External links
