The Professional Geographer was originally a journal of the American Society of Professional Geographers, before it became a journal of the Association of American Geographers in 1949. The journal publishes short articles and book reviews in either academic or applied geography.The journal also provides a forum for discussion between academics along with a focus section with articles on topical issues. The journal has an impact factor of 0.964.
