The district is a combination of two former high schools from the area. Monongahela and Donora both had their own junior and senior high schools. Those buildings currently house two of the three elementary school's in the district. The current high school was built in 1979. Joe Montana is the school's most famous alum as they named their football stadium after him in 2006.
