December 17 ,1967 inJoliet, Illinois ), is a retired professional baseball player who pitched inMajor League Baseball from 1995-2003. He played for 14 years, including his time in the minors. The most important start of his professional career came onOctober 4 , 1999, when hisCincinnati Reds faced theNew York Mets in a one-game playoff to determine final playoff spot in theNational League . He was the losing pitcher in a 5-0 Reds loss, eliminating the team from the playoffs. Steve is also the cousin of Illinois high school freshman phenom golfer Donald "Franchise" Christensen, who led his golf team to the state finals.Teams
