John Halgren of Abbeville [Jean d'Abbeville, Jean Halgrin d'Abbeville, Johannes Halgrin de Abbatisvilla, Joannes Algrinus, Jean Algrin, Alegrin, Halgrin or Malgrin.] (d.1237) was a French scholastic philosopher and writer of sermons,
papal legate and Cardinal.In theology he was a follower of

After studying withHugolino of Ostia at theUniversity of Paris , he became dean of the chapter atAmiens in 1218 [ [http://www.mtholyoke.edu/acad/intdept/pnp/images/amiens.html City and Cathedral ] ] ; later he wasarchbishop of Besançon . He became CardinalBishop of Sabina in 1227.
