. It is about 15 minutes from the center of Nottingham.

The village is located in the Borough of Rushcliffe. The Parish Council of nine members runs local affairs and the population of the parish is registered as 1,776 residents.

The village is in a quiet, semi-rural setting. There are many village organizations.

There is an annual village event which is well supported and held in June. This event gathers residents around craft stalls, entertainments, refreshments and small exhibitions. Money generated helps local charities.

There is a pub called the "Air Hostess", named after Tollerton's airport, Nottingham Airport. This pub is unusual in having a piste for playing petanque (boules) as well as a large carved sign depicting an air hostess.

Tollerton has two churches. St Peter's Church (CofE) was originally established at the end of the 12th century. The modern structure was the result of redevelopment in 1909. A Methodist Church is located in a modern building.

There are a small number of local shops including a post office, a petrol station, a butcher, a delicatessen/catering outlet, and a hairdresser as well as a restaurant serving oriental-style food, (The Charde). The Parish Rooms are located at the end of a parade of shops on Burnside Grove and serves as a centre for local community activities and meetings.

Education is served by a local primary/junior school which is well regarded. The nearest secondary is the highly successful South Wolds Community College (specialist language school) located in the nearby village of Keyworth.

Local amenities include a park with an astroturf 5-a-side football pitch and a full-sized grass main football pitch. The park was refurbished with new children's play equipment in April 2008.

The village has continued agricultural employment as well as a small number of workshops serving light fabrication. There are also local businesses in insurance, Cosmetic surgery and IT / Telephony recording sectors.
