Thomas Dent

Thomas Dent

Thomas Covington Dent (c 1935 - c 2001) was an African American poet and writer.

His published works included the book of poetry, "Magnolia Street".

He was a passionate groomer of other Black writers and worked hard to sustain the Free Southern Theatre writing workshop and Congo Square Writers' Union in his hometown of New Orleans and the Umbra Workshop in the New York.

Thomas' father was president of Dillard University and his mother was a concert pianist.
