Georg Rosen

Georg Rosen (21 September 1821 in Detmold – 29 October 1891 in Detmold) was a German (Prussian) Orientalist, brother of Friedrich August Rosen, father of Fritz Rosen. He studied in Berlin and Leipzig. From 1844, he was a dragoman at the Prussian embassy in Constantinople, from 1853 Prussian ambassador in Jerusalem, and from 1867 Great Consul of the North German Confederation, from 1871 of the German Empire, in Beograd. In 1875, Rosen returned to Detmold.
